Alaska’s Magister Squid Attracts People at Juneau Maritime Festival

A beautiful day brought hundreds of people out to Juneau’s annual Maritime Festival, held on the city’s downtown Merchant’s Warf. The squid samples were a showstopper, especially with kids who wanted to touch them and ask questions. Many longtime residents never knew squid were in our waters and asked questions on how to catch them. Most people had eaten squid and liked it, those that didn’t wanted to know how to clean and cook them. Among the crowd were many Alaska Department of Fish and Game personnel that had heard about our squid project and stopped and asked a myriad of questions. This was a successful event for Magister Squid!
